NOTE: RUNNING AND SNOWSHOEING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE RENDEZVOUS SKI TRAILS AT ANY TIME OTHER THAN EQUINOX RACE WEEKEND.  THERE ARE MANY MILES OF MULTIUSE TRAIL IN THE AREA.  CONTACT FREEHEEL AND WHEEL OR THE HEBGEN LAKE RANGER DISTRICT OF THE GALLATIN NATIONAL FOREST TO OBTAIN TRAIL MAPS FOR MULTIUSE AND SNOWSHOE FRIENDLY TRAILS.

Runners and snowshoers, welcome!  As per the Equinox usual, relay teams and soloists are invited to enter the 3, 6, 12, or 24 Hour events.  The foot course will be a 4-6 mile loop primarily on groomed nordic ski trails with perhaps some road sections.  The course will be separate from the skiers for the first 8 hours or so, then we may consolidate depending on conditions and numbers.  Snowshoes, though not mandatory, are encouraged in order to lessen trail impact and improve the fun factor in soft conditions.  Registration will open January 1, 2012 and be limited to 50 participants for the inaugural event.

Trail etiquette- Welcome to a true multiple use event!  Trail etiquette is essential for us all to come away happy and with our fur intact.  These trails are maintained by skiers.  Adding bikes and runners to the mix is being done with respect for the work they have done.  With that, skiers will have right-of-way where the courses intersect and overlap.  Also, runners have the POTENTIAL to damage the trails in a way that makes it less pleasant to ski on.  Separate courses will help and more preventative measures are asked of participants.

1. We are encouraging runners to use snowshoes when the trails are soft.

2. Stay to the far side right side of the trail leaving a smooth track available for skiers and bikers.

3. Please refrain from using these trails during the high traffic ski season from November 20-March 20.  The Equinox may be a one time opportunity to use these snow covered trails by foot.  Other options for foot travel throughout the year exist nearby such as the Boundary Trail.

4. Help maintain the Rendezvous Trails during shoulder season work parties, by purchasing Trail Passes, and by volunteering during local ski events!
